hidden by the night

Half-naked in the darkness,
Hidden by the night,
I stand in the doorway.

The pounding rain
beats a staccato rhythm
on my waiting skin.

Baptized by the clouds,
Bathed by the cool heavens,
I am soaked to my core.

As water streams across
my body in torrents
I smile.

Gasping at the onslaught
I open my hands
And bare my chest.

Into my parted lips
a benison
is poured.

I know,
without a doubt tonight,
that I am Alive.
